Making your first website
Creating a website may pose some challenges especially for those who don’t have much technical knowledge.
There are two types of software that you can use to build your first website. The first one is provided by your web host. If you’re a beginner and you don’t know much about web technicalities, choosing web building tools that are provided by your web host is your best option. Most of these software applications are uncomplicated and easy to use.
You may also use Microsoft Front Page to build a website. It is an application program that can be used by both beginners and professional web builders alike. There are other programs that can be used in website creation but usually, using these applications requires at least basic technical knowledge in the web.
Building Your Website
If this is your first time creating a website, make use of the ready-made templates or tools provided from your web host. It would be better to keep your website design simple and uncluttered especially if it’s a business website. Use a standard font style to create uniformity in your letters. A professional format can give the impression of credibility for your business.
Skip the flash. Most professional web builders make use of flash introductions. However, they usually take a long time to download. Most people choose to skip flash introductions because they don’t have the time to wait.
If it’s personal website, perhaps you can add music to your website. But if it’s for a business website, you might want to pass on the music. Some people can get annoyed by sound files especially if they don’t like the type of music.
Don’t use very large files especially when using graphics because they take a long time to download. It’s better to use images with just the right file size so that visitors to your website will not have to wait for these files to finish downloading before they can surf your site.
Generally, when using web tools that are found in your web host, you will have the option to preview the lay-out of the page you have created. When you’re satisfied with the page, all you have to do is click on the publish button and you’ll have your website ready for you. The features and add ons that you can use on your website will depend on your web host. Once you’re done with the basic elements of your website, you can put in additional elements one at a time.
Don’t rush about publishing your website. Make sure that everything is ready before introducing it on the net. Check for typos, or broken links and see to it that your website is easy to navigate and user-friendly. It’s better to awhile preparing a well-designed and efficient website. This way, visitors will not be disappointed once they check out your first website.

Its fine for people to begin by using these programs, but I also suggest trying to learn atleast basic html at the same time. It will be very helpful and will allow them to do more. There are many great tutorials out there (htmlgoodies.com is one i recommend) to help you learn html (and then other languages such as css) very easily.
